Dee was born in Houston, Texas in 1936. She lived there through high school and then moved to Los Angeles to attend UCLA. She received her Ph.D. in 1962, near the time she earned her private pilot’s license. She moved to Wisconsin to become a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is now a Professor Emerita. She has been married for over 50 years to the man who was her flight instructor for her commercial license. Passing a flight physical would not be possible at this time, but she still is fascinated by all things flying and supports those activities whenever it is possible.
