340 sun and clouds

The view: Sunset shining after a passing cold front, Central Texas

The pilot: John Gill

The plane: Cessna 340A

The mission: Flying the final leg of an Angel Flight, bringing a patient home from treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

The memory: We had a solid day of IMC and flying approaches. As we neared home, we were rewarded with this view of the late afternoon sun shining through gaps in the clouds, illuminating other cloud layers below. The low angle of the winter sun gave this brief glimpse before going back behind the clouds. God’s paintbrush giving a ray of hope after a hard day.

Editor’s note: This is the latest installment in our weekly series called simply the “Friday Photo.” Each week we’ll share a great photo taken from the cockpit – one that shares the joy, beauty or fun of flying.
