Dave Earle

Dave Earle

For the last 25 years Dave has taught high school math at a small private school (Windham Christian Academy) in Maine. Prior to that, he was employed at a large insurance company for almost 20 years as a programmer/analyst. His best accomplishments are that he has been married to a wonderful lady and friend for 46 years and has four grown children who have given him 13 grandchildren. His first time in an airplane had to be in 1958 when he was 6 years old. Dave remembers curiously watching the pilot pull on the prop to start the engine, and the experience was magical. That was a new perspective for him—looking at toy cars and tiny streets and houses. And so he has been fascinated by planes for years but had never pursued that interest until his wife said, "you've always wanted to fly so I think you should take a few lessons." With some money he had saved and the significant amount that she contributed, he actually got to the place that you see pictured above: his first solo.

Last April, one month before my 60th birthday, I began taking flight lessons. My family gave me the go ahead and my wife, Meredith, in particular made it possible for me to do this. It’s been an interesting experience.
