The view: Lining up on runway 9 at Telluride, Colorado
The pilot: Jason Harrison, MD, FACS
The airplane: Cessna Turbo 182T
The mission: Flying from Albuquerque for my 50th birthday
The memory: A unique airport, Telluride sits on a mesa over 9,000 feet above sea level. When the weather is good, the views are spectacular.

And when the weather is bad don’t go! I’ve also canceled due to strong x-winds which can make for some nasty up and down drafts.
Is steep approach quite normal for approach into Telluride ? In many strips around the world like in Columbia and Nepal, due steep approaches, you have to make a high rate of descent to reach your normal approach path profile. I flew such flights many times before. Now I fly an aircraft that needs more procedural flying. Gone are those exciting days.
