Paul learned to fly north of Toronto at an airport, which has since been demolished for housing. He became a commercial pilot and flew laser-guided remote sensing missions in a Piper Aztec across Canada. It was a great job because it combined his love for flying with his forestry degree. The camaraderie of the small crew was coupled with a sense of adventure. They did not have GPS and used aerial photographs and maps to navigate to and execute the flight lines; they were remarkably accurate using dead reckoning. Paul has since added an instructor rating and lives in Ottawa.
