John has been a private pilot since 1973, with an instrument rating added in 2015. The instrument rating was life changing since it was now possible to fly longer trips without worrying too much about the weather. Well, except for storms and icing of course. His 900 hour total time includes less than 200 hours for the first 35 years (kids, school, work—the usual story), but he has made up for it since buying his first airplane, a Cessna 206, in 2017. John lives in Victoria, BC.
