Alexander grew up in North Carolina, where his interest in aviation was instilled at a very young age by his grandfather, who was a passionate glider pilot and model aircraft designer, as well as his godfather, who owned a PA-32 taking him along whenever possible. Later in life his family moved back to Germany and although he always wanted to become a professional pilot, Alexander then decided to pursue a career in medicine instead. Today as a private pilot and ophthalmologist he uses his experience from both worlds to examine, advise, and treat fellow pilots with medical eye conditions, while in his spare time he likes to go flying together with his wife Stephanie as his copilot and who is a passionate photographer.
