About Alan Murgatroyd
Alan learned to fly in Canada with the RCAF as part of an RAF (UK) training scheme, and subsequently served as a BOAC (forerunner of the present British Airways) airline crew member, serving as flight navigator, co-pilot and eventually captain, with experience on the Boeing Stratocruiser, Britannia 312, Boeing 707, and Boeing 747. He later moved to Singapore Airlines and retired as a 747 line instructor. Alan retired to New Zealand and and flew for the local Volunteer Coastguard Air Patrol and also as an Aero Club instructor for microlight (LSA) aircraft, owning two such aircraft himself during recent years.
