David first learned to fly 60 years ago when he was still a student, and gained what was then an Unrestricted Private Flying License. He was short of funds and he faded away from flying. Much later he bought into a Cessna 150 syndicate and took up flying again. From that he progressed to becoming a joint owner of a Cessna 172 and flew many hours in that before he built his Savannah aircraft. He enjoyed building his own plane - there is satisfaction in seeing your own built plane take to the air.
