The view: The Temescal mountains, 5 miles north of Lake Elsinore, 10 nm east of Orange Country, CA (50 nm east of LAX), along Interstate 15, March 25, 2019.

The airplane: Cessna 162 (SkyCatcher)
The mission: Aerial photography of the much ballyhooed Walker Canyon Poppy Bloom (due to our excellent rain year in SoCal).
The memory: Vastly more extensive, and much more awe-inspiring, than the ground level media views online and on TV had indicated. The mountains looked like they were on fire. The throngs of people arriving by car and exploring on foot missed out on so much.

The photographer is an emeritus professor at UC Irvine (medical school). A couple of years ago, he passed his biennial flight review 35 years late.
