Like many pilots, Phil has had a love of flying since he was a teenager building R/C and U-control models back in the late 50s. It wasn't until he got out of school and began a career in video journalism, with a local TV station, that he decided to take his first lesson in a Cessna 150. The company had been sending Phil out to shoot 16 mm film of various subjects from the air, with numerous charter pilots. It seemed like it would be a lot safer if he knew he could land the plane if they got into an emergency, so he should at least train through my solo. That was 40 years ago.
