The view: Yosemite Valley with raging waterfalls
The pilot: Mike Clark
The photographer: George White
The airplane: Mooney M20F
The mission: Returning “home” from Gansner (2O1) with Mike’s grandson Bryan.
The memory: Although I’ve been to Yosemite a number of times I have never overflown. My friend, plane owner, and pilot Mike has never been there so we took the opportunity. My wife and I have had the wonderful experience of taking Mike and his wife to new places. While it was just Mike, Bryan, and me on this trip I will always remember how much Mike remarked about the beauty of the Yosemite Valley and all the prominent points. Later, when I was able to better view the pictures, I found that shooting through his windows somehow gave the pictures a black and white appearance reminiscent to me of many of the old, vintage photographs I have enjoyed of the valley taken by greats like Ansel Adams. For the record I, by no means or stretch, am including myself into that class of photographers.
