The view: Southwest toward the sunset from the Signature ramp at Santa Fe, New Mexico (KSAF).
The pilot (photographer): John Graham
The airplane: Howard 500—one of 17 built to the original specs and one of two still flying.
The mission: Fuel stop at KSAF.
The memory: I was doing some work at my hangar and caught a glimpse of a twin-tail plane on final. I didn’t see it very well, but thought it would be worth a closer look. I finished up at the hangar and drove over to the Signature ramp where I beheld this beauty. It was good luck as there are only two of these still flying. Good timing too, since I managed to arrive just at sunset. The crew had just stopped for gas, and the plane was gone soon thereafter.

Great shot, thanks for sharing it with us! Bet she sounded great too!
A Twin Beech on steroids….. fastest recip I ever flew. Awesome doesn’t come close.
Beautiful airplane! I’ll bet it’s a challenge to find appropriate Av Gas for Howards or Venturas.
They were still around in some numbers in the mid-1970s but must be nearly extinct now.
You’re lucky to see one airworthy and so well-maintained!
