The view: RNAV (GPS) Approach for Runway 23 at Greater Cumberland Regional Airport (KCBE), Cumberland, Maryland
The pilot: David Smith
The airplane: Cessna 172
The mission: Long cross-country flight to the mountains of Western Maryland flying IFR
The memory: Conditions and visibility kept changing due to haze. Density altitude at CBE was over 3,000’ and, with airport elevation at 775′ and the mountain straight ahead, I decided to go missed and fly to the alternate of MRB (Martinsburg, West Virginia).
