The mission: My husband and I discovered flying in Costa Rica last year. We had the pleasure of exploring the land of Pura Vida by renting an airplane based at the Pavas (MRPV) airport, along with a local instructor. Through researching options available for GA opportunities, we found an excellent flight school in San Jose that gave us the direction and training to explore this beautiful country from the air. The diversity and exceptional beauty of Costa Rica are a joy to explore from above. Equally interesting is the budding GA community reminiscent of the 1970 and 80s in Canada – where we both learned to fly at an early age.

The memory: It was such a joy for me as a photographer to capture the “Whale Tail” on this stellar day as we circled 1,000 MSL overhead.

Raised on an airpark in southern Alberta, aviation has enormously influenced Cheryl's life.Good fortune facilitated her family to travel independently and as part of the Flying Farmer organization through the 70s and 80s.As an only child, she found companionship while "bouncing across" the prairies or "scud running" through the mountains with a little stuffed dog and a camera close at hand.
After soloing on her 16th birthday, Cheryl pursued a life in corporate jungles and exploring the globe.After 50-plus rotations around the sun, she has ventured to 50 countries – always with her camera and her stuffie dog named Beanie.
She is finishing up her IFR ticket and shares her love of flying with her husband, Terrance.Together, they explore North America in their beloved PA46.
