The view: Captured while banking over the world-famous Whale’s Tail in Marino Ballena National Park, Puntarenas Province, in Costa Rica’s southern Pacific region.
The pilot: Terrance Kutryk
The airplane: Piper Archer III
The mission: My husband and I discovered flying in Costa Rica last year. We had the pleasure of exploring the land of Pura Vida by renting an airplane based at the Pavas (MRPV) airport, along with a local instructor. Through researching options available for GA opportunities, we found an excellent flight school in San Jose that gave us the direction and training to explore this beautiful country from the air. The diversity and exceptional beauty of Costa Rica are a joy to explore from above. Equally interesting is the budding GA community reminiscent of the 1970 and 80s in Canada – where we both learned to fly at an early age.
The memory: It was such a joy for me as a photographer to capture the “Whale Tail” on this stellar day as we circled 1,000 MSL overhead.
