The view: Jomsom airstrip, Nepal

The airplane: Cessna Caravan 208 with registration 9N-ADA

The pilot: Suresh Bista

The mission: Proving flight before acceptance for revenue operations

The memory: The airstrip at Jomsom is 9000 feet AMSL, situated in the midwest part of Nepal and north of the Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Dhaulagiri ranges. Later I flew many times between 25,000 and 30,000 feet on photography flights and search mission over Mount Everest and Mount Kanchanjunga.

A friend and I had the pleasure of visiting this place 20 years ago, on a Twin Otter. We had about an hour on the ground between flights, and played a game of pool in the terminal. Friendly people and incredible terrain!
