About ten years ago, after a career in investment banking, Ross turned a lifelong interest in flying into reality by gaining a private licence. Since then he has acquired a night rating, built two airplanes - a Lancair Legacy and an RV-8 - and owned a couple more. He has been fortunate enough to have travelled Southern Africa extensively in these aircraft and enjoyed the freedom they allow to visit remote places and experience the wilderness. Occasionally he writes for a local aviation magazine on these experiences and he also edits his flying club newsletter. He is married with two grown up daughters, one of whom loves flying and will one day complete the private licence she has begun.
