Friday Photo: Scottsdale takeoff

ksdl600

The view: Taking off from Runway 3 in Scottsdale, AZ.

The pilot: Braxton Norwood

The photographer: S. Heischmann

The airplane: Cessna 172 – N561SA

The mission: A morning flight with touch-and-goes in Winslow and Flagstaff, then lunch in Sedona.

The memory: I was working toward my PPL; it was Heischmann’s first flight in a 172. Beautiful February weather in Arizona, as usual. It’s no surprise that this state turns out more pilots annually than anywhere else in the US.

Editor’s note: This is the latest installment in our weekly series called simply the “Friday Photo.” Each week we post a great photo taken from the cockpit – one that shares the joy, beauty or fun of flying.
